Expatriates and Brexit
On June 23, 2016, in a referendum, 51.9% of Britons chose to leave the EU. The United Kingdom and the other 27 countries have given themselves 2 years to prepare for this exit.
While Theresa May presents her plan B today (the initial plan having been rejected), it is also on January 21 that the British government officially launches its
mobile application for Europeans wishing to stay in the United Kingdom
(3.5 million Europeans live in the UK). Available only on Android for now, it allows the user to apply for permanent residency in a few steps. This procedure costs 65 pounds. Some estimates predict up to 6,000 requests per day; the Home Office has hired 1,900 people to handle the new workload.
