How to move with peace of mind?
Are you an expatriate or transferred to France? You are delighted but this change implies a move. And the very mention of the word makes you anxious? Moving is just a matter of organization and common sense. Think about anticipating and being accompanied.
Here are our tips for a stress-free move:
FOR YOUR OLD HOME
–
Send a registered letter to your current landlord, respecting the notice period. Don’t hesitate to use the many examples you can find on the internet as a model: https: //bailpdf.com/guides/location/resiliation-bail/courrier
–
Organize your move with a professional. Beware of the summer period which is very busy, therefore very quickly booked! If you need more time to get organized for the move, you may be able to take some time off (ask your HR to see what your collective agreement offers).
–
Pack your boxes by starting to sort out: give to associations or sell on online second-hand platforms the objects/clothing/furniture that you no longer need. Then, start with your “non-essential” boxes, i.e. items you don’t use every day. This can be books, seasonal clothing, etc.
–
Plan your exit inventory of fixtures. Before, it is necessary to think of emptying your apartment, cleaning it and perhaps to envisage some minor works which will enable you to find the totality of your deposit if you are tenant.
FOR YOUR NEW HOME
–
Plan with your future landlord a date for the signing of the lease and the inventory of fixtures.
–
Think about renting furniture while your container of furniture arrives if you arrive from abroad. You will be able to get settled in your new apartment and familiarize yourself with your surroundings.
–
Plan to contact a telephone operator for the change of address or the opening of a new line.
–
Call your home insurance company for your new home and to update your file so that you are covered from the day you move in.
–
And of course, plan to open your water, electricity and gas contracts.
NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN
A change of address means a change of address for many papers.
Remember to change your address on your car registration card, at the tax office and register on the electoral roll of your new city!
