7 ways to make your home warm for rent
When you are on the move abroad, it is important to feel comfortable in your new home. The interior design has a lot to do with it, but it is not always easy to organize it before your arrival. Discover the advice of Homat, a specialist in furniture rental, to quickly and easily furnish your interior.
1 – Textiles
Apartments offered for unfurnished rental usually have neutral interiors that you can arrange according to your preferences. Textiles are a great customization medium to create a warm and welcoming living room.
With curtains, rugs, cushion or sofa covers, you can find your favorite patterns and colors. Unlike painting or applying coatings, textiles will be easy to remove for the initial inventory. You can therefore allow yourself to be daring.
2 – Materials
Even with white walls, a home necessarily puts certain materials in the spotlight. It can be the wood of the joinery, the metal of the door handles, the copper of the sill bars… Their replacement is not part of the small works allowed for rent.
Nevertheless, you can be inspired by their style to create a coherent decoration: cosy living room decoration in a chalet spirit with wood, modern design in the style of an architect’s house with aluminium or steel… These exposed materials are an excellent starting point for finding new design ideas.
3 – Lighting fixtures
The brightness of our interiors plays a decisive role in our morale at home and our performance at work. Try to promote natural light during the day by clearing up as much space in front of the glass walls as possible. If the window opens to a vis-à-vis, choose sheers in light tones.
For rooms that do not benefit from sufficient light, such as corridors for example, choose electric suspensions that diffuse light whose temperature is close to that of the day. For the evening, select lampshades with a more subdued light, ideal for relaxing and resting.
4 – Perfumes
Smell and memory are strongly linked. If you had a home fragrance or candle, simply finding their scent when you come into your new home helps create a familiar interior.
It can also be a brand of fabric softener that you regularly use for bed linen. Bring a small bottle in your suitcase to perfume your sheets with a smell you know well, at least for the first few weeks.
For your pets whose sense of smell is particularly developed, remember to bring objects and accessories from your old home (balls, cozy basket, etc.).
5 – Decoration
Wall dressing is a crucial step in creating a warm interior. If you have your own decorative accessories to hang on the wall or put on the shelves, that’s a plus. Otherwise, a few purchases may be enough to bring the room to life.
Vases, picture frames or storage baskets are among these elements that can radically change the style of the room depending on their shape, colour, size…
Like textiles, these accessories bring personality in small touches and allow you to create a unique interior that suits you.
6 – Practicality
A house or apartment that you have lived in for a long time is also a place designed to meet all your daily needs. In a new home, it takes some time to adapt to collect everything that makes your life easier day after day: the coat rack in the hallway, the laundry basket in the bathroom, the hangers to organize your closet or dressing room…
All these simple and practical accessories are part of Homat’s offer for the rental of furniture , multimedia equipment and household appliances. With Homat you can order these products from your personal online space and have them installed quickly and easily in your new home with your furniture, even before your arrival if you wish.
7 – The distribution of spaces
The experience of expatriation is lived in a very different way from one person to another and from one household to another. Nevertheless, a few good development practices can help to smooth the transition.
For families, room allocation is an important step. For active people who move around on their own, the quality of sleep is crucial. Don’t hesitate to move the rooms to the rooms that are less exposed to noise.
If the bathroom or toilet has a window, make sure you have the level of privacy you need to feel comfortable. Each occupant must be able to find his or her comfort zone in the different rooms of the home.
Renting furniture for expatriates is a simple, flexible and quick formula for fitting out your new home abroad. After more than 30 years of experience, Homat offers the essentials from the rental of furniture and accessories, to the rental of the television or the washing machine… Everything you need to feel at home.
